Night Bazaar

The Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai
The Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai offers many handicraft products, t-shirts, and other souvenirs. This market near the Loi Khro road should be the main attraction of Chiang Mai in north Thailand. Every evening from about six o’clock there are hundreds of booths who offer beautiful and handmade souvenirs of the hill tribes from this part of Thailand. Another reason to come here is the food. Many booth offer delicious Thai, Isaan, Indian… food for a good price. As well the cheap fruit shakes are cheap and very healthy. If you like western food than should be O’Malley’s Irish Pub or Daddys Restaurant the right choice for you. Take the bait of the exhalation around the food area of this historical market. On the Night Bazaar you will find for sure the right souvenirs of your trip to north Thailand.
Walking Street Market

Walking Street in Chiang Mai
Every Sunday afternoon till late is in central Chiang Mai a big market direct in the center of this great city in Thailand. The whole Ratchadamnoen road from Tha Phae to Wat Phrasingh is close for cars, bikes and scooters. This is a perfect bargain for tourists who like to buy some handicrafts of the hill tribes, handmade adornments and many other souvenirs. The temple markets around the market offer nice and cheap local food. If you like to rest by a fresh coffee than you are right at Black Canyon, Doi Chaang or the Ratchadamnoen Cafe in the middle of the market. For fresh juices and healthy drinks i can recommend the Juice Box on the Ratchadumnern street. Some friends ask me many time what are you doing all day, in this new tag of my Travel blog I try to give some answers and maybe open a window to other traveler and tourists why and how I’m living on the island Koh Chang in Thailand. First I want to answer the most asked question of travelers who I meet here in Thailand and South East Asia: Why you are living in Thailand? I cannot answer this question to 100 percent. After some traveling and holidays around the world I came back to Germany and don’t fell at home. Till me was 18 I done a lot of holidays in many countries in Europe: Norway, England, Holland, Belgium, of course Germany, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Spain, Denmark and Greece. With 18 I was the first time out of Europe in Morocco and South Africa. In 2004 and 2005 I spent some time in America for holidays, the Dominican Republic and Mexico Yucatan was my destinations. 2006 was my first time in Asia; I traveled with a friend to Patong Beach in South Thailand for holidays. We spend here two weeks at the Phuket Graceland 5Star resort. Our first day was crazy; after we arrived we walked into the busy town on the 13th of April: Songkran Water festival! After we finish our high school in 2006 I spent 2 month with a friend in Thailand for a backpack tour through south and central Thailand, we traveled a lot. Nearly every two days we were sitting in a bus to change our destination till we were landed on Koh Chang in the Gulf of Thailand. On Koh Chang we spend our last three weeks before we went home at Thale Bungalows at Klong Prao Beach. A half year later I was back again, for 1,5 month I spend my holidays here at this beautiful place. Already in the plane I was sure that I don’t want to go back to Germany. I missed Thailand, especially Koh Chang too much. It becomes already my home. In the beginning of 2007 I quit everything in Europe to come back here. The first year I traveled a lot through South East Asia: Malaysia Peninsular, Singapore and Bali were my second big travel tour. On this trip the scuba diving become a big hobby of mine, my first license I did already on my holiday in Thailand in 2006. Click here for some scuba pictures! In the end of 2007 I start to make my Divemaster. I enjoyed the tropical diving here on this beautiful Island. But the main reason why I’m here are the lifestyle of the people and of course my wife from Nong Han who I meet in middle of 07 in Thailand.
Next week we are going up to Chiang Mai and Pai to look for a small apartment for the next month. In the beginning of July we start to learn. Moun learn German and I learn Thai.
Here at the Travel Diary Tag you will find from while to while some reports from traveling in Southeast Asia and from my life in Thailand. I hope you enjoy.

Lounge on the International Airport in BKK
The Airline Bangkok Airways is famous for many domestic connections in Thailand. The hub of Asia’s boutique airline is Thailand’s Capital Bangkok. From here you get nearly everywhere in Thailand: Phuket, Koh Samui, Sukhothai and much more destinations. Bangkok Airways flight as well to some international destinations like Phnom Penh in Cambodia. I was flying from Bangkok to Trat to travel to Koh Chang with this Airline. Is a nice option to the bus if you come from Europe or elsewhere in world. For the brake on the international Airport in Bangkok there is a lounge as well for economy passengers with some food, hot and cold drinks and good service. A nice place to relax from your intercontinental flight before. The service on board of this airline is friendly like everywhere if you fly with an Asian Airline. I can recommend to travel with Bangkok Airways for domestic flights in Thailand and international flights in South East Asia.

Climbing Wall
In Mai 09 I was at South Germany to visit a good friend who I meet on Koh Chang in Thailand and go to a AC/DC concert on the Hockenheimring in Baden Wurttemberg. On Monday after the concert we go to a climbing park called Stetten. It was my first experience in this direction. The best way to come here is by car. If you don’t know the way from the park ground to the wall is hard to find. When you come here for climbing the best way is to get some information before you arrive. It is not possible to rent equipments over there so bring everything what you need as well food and drinks. Here at the climbing park in Stetten you will find 8-9 meter high sandstone walls with different demand. I had a lot of fun and it was a good experience especially with my fear to the high.
